Zimmerman…the plot thickens, congeals and spoils.

Update: Florida officials have charged George Zimmerman with second-degree murder for the killing of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman is in custody.

This spectacle which has been getting more bizarre and grim every day reached new heights yesterday when Twitter became inflamed with the promise of a “George Zimmerman Press Conference.” Of course there was no George Zimmerman, no one seems to know where George is, especially not his lawyers. George Zimmerman’s attorneys showed up to tell us they’re quitting the case because he “disappeared” and he was not listening to their advice.

They then went on to condemn the media for trying the case in the press and proceeded to do the exact same thing themselves.  We heard some asshole wearing a red tie use comical voices and tell us exactly how George is a wronged victim here and they are concerned for his safety. I won’t rehash the nonsense they spewed, you can read it here, but the narrative we’re expected to believe is a young boy with no criminal record snapped immediately upon innocent questioning from a friendly neighborhood watch guy and transformed into a murderous would-be killer who nearly bludgeoned to death a man 100 pounds heavier than him with nothing more than his bare fists. No mention that George has three arrests with a history of violence and may have lost a job with his rage fits. No the boy who wanted Skittles and to watch a basketball game decided it would be a good night to kill a stranger who just conveniently appeared.

More after the jump…

Also from Huffington Post.

Alan Dershowitz, the legal scholar and criminal attorney, also appeared on the show, and said he was “disturbed” by the conduct of Zimmerman’s former attorneys. Dershowitz said they may have damaged his defense by expounding on his state of mind, and they may possibly have violated attorney-client privilege. “All they had to do was quietly say that ‘we’re no longer representing [Zimmerman] and our role in the case is over.’”

I have never seen attorneys quit a case and then do pro-bono work for the client in front of the media, not even on a shitty TV show. This whole thing smells even worse now. What we do know is that George Zimmerman did not listen to 911 operators, did not listen to Trayvon Martin’s pleas for his life, and did not listen to his attorneys. And of course we know that Trayvon Martin is still dead and Zimmerman has been charged with nothing. And now that the special prosecutor has called off a Grand Jury, they are effectively taking a 1st degree murder charge off the table as only grand juries can issue 1st degree murder charges in the state of Florida.

And we know that instead of legal counsel, Zimmerman created a race-baiting website and contacted the pile of beautifully-coiffured hair and turds, Sean Hannity. At this rate the next place we’ll see Zimmerman is with his own Fox News Show. He can condemn the race riots he will have caused.
