Yesterday, there was a rumor floating around that George Zimmerman’s father, Robert Zimmerman was a retired judge. As with all rumors, this may or may not be true, but as of right now there is no hard evidence to support it.
Probably the most popular page with the “fact” that George Zimmerman’s father is a judge comes from “Rolling Out.” But, Rolling Out doesn’t list its sources or link to any documents. Also, the wording on Rolling Out is exactly the same as a thousand tiny shitty second-hand hearsay blogs. The wording “Robert Zimmerman, a former Orange County magistrate judge, recently wrote a letter …” is echoed word-for-word on the little blogs, but no reputable news source has picked it up.
There’s a similar “fact” making its way around out there and the bedrock page for that seems to be a ditchwater radio station in Seminole Florida, WBDO. The wording they use is “Zimmerman said his father was a magistrate for Virginia Supreme Court …” which is the exact wording that is also echoed in the little blog sounding chamber, but not outside of it.

One anomaly to the hypothesis that this fact only exists on small-time sites is CNN. Yes, that CNN. In this article CNN states of Zimmerman “his father, a retired magistrate judge …” and cites an application for law-enforcement school as their source. That’s the same application the little guys are using as a “source.” My hunch on this one is that the CNN newswire writers don’t actually have the application, they haven’t seen the concrete evidence, and are instead just another repeater in the echo chamber.
This rumor, like most rumors, contradicts itself. Is he a county judge or was he a state Supreme Court magistrate? If he was a Supreme Court magistrate for Virginia, there would probably be a lot more information about him out there –how he ruled certain cases, how those rulings affected the people and companies that live and work in Virginia. So, far Robert Zimmerman, George’s father, doesn’t play a prominent role in history.
As, I said, this may be true. We don’t know yet. We 100% support Trayvon’s family, but we want to present facts unlike the people trying to smear Trayvon with lies and rumors. In a shocking and damning interview on Fox 35 Orlando, Robert Zimmerman, father of Trayvon Martin’s murderer George Zimmerman admits through a reporter that he indeed was a judge, along with lying and fabricating other facts about the incident and the arrest.
At 6:58 of the video the reporter is quoting Zimmerman saying “he hoped to be a judge just like his father”, adding to the speculation that George Zimmerman got preferential treatment in previous arrests along with how this current case is being handled. Confirmation in this article as well.
